Terms & refunds
How payment, cancellation, and refunds work for Open Late website projects and monthly plans.
Terms & refunds
Last updated October 28, 2026
Open Late is a one-person web design studio run by Adaobi Nwobu in Jamestown, North Carolina. This page explains how paying, cancelling, and refunds work. Every project also gets a written agreement before any work starts. If the two ever differ, your signed agreement is the one that counts.
Prices
| Plan | Pay once | Pay monthly |
|---|---|---|
| Starter | $650 | $99 setup + $49/month |
| Business | $1,200 | $199 setup + $89/month |
| Custom | From $2,500, quoted | Quoted |
Pay-once sites can add hosting for $35/month, starting at launch. Monthly plans already include the domain, hosting, and small edits. Prices are in US dollars. If sales tax applies to your purchase, it's shown on your invoice before you pay.
How you pay
- Pay once. 50% when we sign, 50% before launch. I keep the finished site on a private preview link until the final payment arrives, then publish it to your domain.
- Monthly. The setup fee and first month are due when we sign. After that, your card or bank account is charged automatically on the same date each month. There's a 12-month minimum, and your price stays the same for those 12 months.
Invoices are sent by email and paid through a secure Stripe page. Stripe handles your card or bank details, and I never see your full card number. Invoices are due within 7 days.
Late payments
If a payment is more than 14 days late, I'll email you a reminder. If it's more than 30 days late, I may take the site offline until it's paid, and I'll always give you at least 7 days' written notice first.
Refunds
- Cancelling before launch. Either of us can cancel in writing before the site launches. The first payment isn't refundable, because it covers work that has already started. On a pay-once plan, if I've already delivered the full design for your approval, 75% of the project price is due.
- If I can't finish. If I can't complete your project for reasons on my side, I refund anything you paid for work I haven't delivered and hand over everything finished so far.
- After launch. Once your site is live, project payments aren't refundable. If something I built doesn't work the way our agreement describes, I'll fix it at no charge.
- Monthly charges. A month that has already been billed isn't refunded, but you keep full service through the end of it.
If you think you were charged by mistake, contact me before disputing it with your bank, and I'll sort it out quickly. Duplicate or incorrect charges are always refunded in full to the original payment method.
Cancelling a monthly plan
After the first 12 months, you can cancel any time with 30 days' written notice (email counts). Ending sooner means paying the months left in the 12-month term.
When you leave, you choose what happens next. You can buy the site outright for the one-time fee in your agreement, and I'll transfer the files and domain within 10 business days so you can host it anywhere. Or you can take just your domain name, for the transfer fee in your agreement, and the site goes offline. Either way, you never lose your web address.
Pay-once hosting has no minimum. Cancel any time, and it ends after the month you've already paid for.
Who owns what
Your logo, photos, words, and business name are always yours. A pay-once site and its domain become yours once the final payment is made, and I'll transfer the domain to your own account free within 10 business days of your request. On a monthly plan, I own and manage the site and domain for you until you buy it out.
What I can't promise
I build every site to be fast and easy for Google to read, but nobody can guarantee search rankings, traffic, or sales. I'm also not responsible for outages caused by the hosting provider or anything else outside my control, though I'll work to get your site back up quickly.
Questions
Email [email protected] or call or text (743) 600-1735. These terms follow North Carolina law. If they change, I'll update the date at the top, and changes never apply to an agreement you've already signed.
